The Cult Stopped by Today

About 2 years ago the Jehovah Witness stopped by. I live in the country and so once or twice a year they stop by. I knew who they were before they ever spoke. They never come up and say hi we are from the Jehovah Witness. So I said you’re from the Jehovah Witness right? He said yes. He named some bible I had not heard of and said “they agree with our interpretation”. I said “You are denying that Jesus Christ is God” you are a cult. We did not say much else and so we parted in mutual disagreement. I don’t think they get this response very often.

So more recently several months ago they stopped by again. Two females probably in their mid 20’s came up and an older man and woman sat in the car. Before the two females spoke I of course said “Are you from the Jehovah Witness” and they said yes. So of course I recited the same words of John 1 from above again. Then I said “Your bible denies that Jesus Christ is God, you do not believe in the Trinity, you are a cult, y’all are in big trouble”. As they stood their looking at each other for a little bit the man in the car could tell I was doing most of the talking, so he got out to come save them.

As he got closer before he said anything I recited John 1. Then I said “your bible denies that Jesus Christ is God.” I said maybe there is one bible interpretation that agrees with yours but in all Christian Bibles God is a Big G.” “He said “There are scriptures that say Jesus is a created being”. I said “no there aren’t .” Then he immediately said “Jesus prayed to the Father.” Then I replied “if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” I said “that is the Holy Spirit, God is everywhere all the time, He is a Spirit, He can be in more than one place at the same time, y’all are in big trouble.” He had nothing else to say. I wonder what the 2 younger women thought.

After they left I thought about what he said about Jesus Christ being created so I looked up the scripture. Colossians 1 “(15) Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: (16) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (17) And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” I can’t wait to use this the next time they stop by.

Les Feldick has pointed out before that when Moses ask God “what is his name?” he replied “I AM WHO I AM.” Exodus 3:13-3:14. When the Pharisees ask Jesus “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am” and the Pharisees became furious because they knew He was clearly stating He was the God of the Old Testament. Mark 14:61-63. Les said some people think Jesus Christ came into existence when he was born on earth, but actually Jesus Christ is the one that was talking to Moses in the Old Testament.
